Homer is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth. Check out our Must Do's below.
The spit is a long thin area of land that reaches out into the ocean and includes a hotel, shops, restaurants, marina and a fishing hole, along with many other attractions. The best part of the spit is walking along the miles of beach. Keep an eye out for sea otters and seals.
Ride aboard the Danny J, a beautiful boat tour over to an excellent restaurant in Halibut Cove with the best oysters & views of bald eagles ever
Locally roasted in Homer, Coal Town Coffee serves the best coffee by the sea. This company is local and environmentally conscious and their coffee is strong, smooth and just right!
Finn's Pizza is the perfect combination of delicious wood fired pizza and stunning views. We like to climb all the way to top to enjoy our pizza with a view of Kachemak Bay.
Your kids will love Karen Hornaday Park. Great playground for all ages. It includes baseball fields and a beautiful view. Sawyer can play for hours in this great maze of equipment and imagination.
Open year round, the Salty Dawg is a Homer Institution. This dive bar is located in a lighthouse and decorated with signed dollar bills from decades of patrons. Most Alaskans own a hoodie from here which can be purchased at the adjoining giftshop - Salty Girls.
Most Alaskan girls have either a Salmon Sisters sweatshirt or a pair of their special Xtratufs. Their flagship store is located in Homer. Alaskan women are strong, independent and entrepreneurial. We love to support local women owned businesses.
Sweetgale Meadworks & Cider has small batch mead & cider, and is the perfect spot to relax by the fire, breath in some fresh air and enjoy something sweet or tart.
Oodalolly has beautiful, quirky and fun gifts for a friend or for yourself! Selkie has a few treasures decorating her walls from this charming shop.
Nope, this picture isn't photoshopped. That's Ryan catching a halibut while fishing with Bob's Trophy Charters.
Whether you're an experienced kayaker or a novice, St. Augustine's Kayak Tours provides a fun experience. They provide a guide and a ride on a water taxi to take you out to the perfect spot.
Wild Honey Bistro is a quaint cafe to enjoy something savory or sweet. Sawyer loves to sit at the garden table next to their flowers.
Yes, there are many campgrounds in Homer that are not on the spit, and we have pretty much stayed at all of them. However our favorites have all been located on the spit. There is something magical about waking up in the morning, smelling the salty sea air, hearing the sound of the waves and opening your tent or camper door and see sea otters playing in the waves.
